Setup

Shuffle the flower cards together and give six cards to each player. Place the pollinator cards in the center of the table, in stacks sorted by animal. Locate a paperclip and place it on the day/night cycle tracker on the side of the game box’s bottom, on the day cycle of round 1.

Throughout the game, as players play cards from their hand onto the table where their garden is located, place annuals in a row closest to the player and stack them by color. Place perennials in a second row, farther away from the player.

Gameplay

There are four total rounds in the game. Within a round, there is both a day and then a night cycle. This can be kept track of using the day/night cycle tracker. Within a day or night cycle, each player has one turn, moving clockwise around the table. The starting player is whoever last watered a plant!

Day and night cycles function the same, except that only pollinators marked with a day (sun) or night (moon) symbol may move during these times.

Each pollinator has a different combo of colored cards, as seen on the pollinator cards, which can attract them when these flowers are present in your garden. Pay attention to these to formulate your strategy!

Day or Night Cycle Turn Order

  1. Play flower cards: Play up to 4 points worth of cards from your hand onto the table in front of you, into your “garden”.
Points are indicated in the top left corner of a flower card.
    • ⤷ You may keep 3 perennials in your garden at a time and unlimited annuals. While playing cards, you can swap out
your current perennials for new ones, as you would play any other cards. Place the unwanted perennials in the discard
      pile.
  2. Choose to attract pollinators: If your garden contains a flower combo that matches any of the pollinator cards, you may
attract a pollinator from the center by moving it into your garden. Discard any annual cards used to attract the pollinator.
You may only attract 1 pollinator per cycle.
    • ⤷ If there are no more of the pollinator species in the center that you wish to attract, you may steal one from another
player’s garden and move it to your garden
  3. Pollinate: If you attracted a pollinator this turn, you may then pollinate your garden by placing 1 additional card (annual or
perennial) of any point value into your garden. You must still maintain no more than 3 perennials.
  4. Draw until you have 6 cards in your hand. When the final card in the draw pile has been drawn, shuffle the discard pile and
    replace the draw pile.

Once each player has completed steps 1-4, the player to their left does the same. Once everyone has taken a turn, slide the tracker along to the next Day or Night cycle indicator. After you reach the end of the tracker, the game ends. Move on to the Scoring portion.

Game End

Scoring is performed after the four rounds are finished. Score by adding up the point values in the upper left corner for each pollinator card and flower card in your garden at the end of the game.

  • ⤷ Flower Biodiversity Bonus: Any player who has at least one flower card of each of the 6 colors in front of them at the end of the game receives 10 additional points.
  • ⤷ Pollinator Biodiversity Bonus: Any player who has at least 4 species of pollinator in front of them at the end of the game receives 10 additional points.

In case of a tie, the person with the highest number of flower cards wins.

Card Details

Pollinator Cards

Each pollinator has a flower combo that will attract them to your garden if it is present in your garden and you have chosen to attract them (during the “attract pollinators” phase).

Additionally, pollinators can only move during a day or night cycle, (except for the Beetle, which can move during either).

The Bee pollinator card can be attracted using three of any color, as long as they are three of the same color.

The Butterfly card has two possible flower combos that will attract it to a player’s garden.

Flower combos and day/night presence can be seen on each pollinator card.

Action Cards

Action cards may be played at any time, including during the turns of other players. There are four types of action cards: Heat Wave/Cold Front, Pesticides, Ecological Restoration, Fertilizer, and Compost. Specific card functions can be found on each card.
